[Solved] How to Move Office 365 Domain to New Tenant?

Office 365 Migration requirements is emerging vastly as big organizations acquiring small businesses.
As an administrator, we understand well how complicated it could be to manage multiple Office 365 tenants. Therefore, the solution to this problem is to migrate Office 365 to new Tenant.
In this process we have to transfer entire data including mailboxes (reside in tenant and domain), documents (OneDrive data) from one tenant to another.
But in this migration process, domain migration is most complicated if we need to migrate Office 365 domain to new tenant & keep the same domain name.
So, in this article, we are going to simplify migrate Office 365 domain to new tenant process. Let’s start the migration.
How to Move Office 365 Domain to New Tenant With Data?
To migrate Office 365 domain to new tenant with keeping the same domain name we have to follow 4 steps.
Step 1 – Migrate data from Office 365 domain to new tenant.
Step 2 – Remove the domain from Old Office 365 tenant.
Step 3 – Attach domain in new Office 365.
Step 4 – Transfer data from the new Office 365 tenant to the domain.
Domain detaching and attaching process is required because the domain can be attached to only one tenant at a time.
So, before attaching the domain into a new tenant we have to detach it from the old tenant.
Step 1 – Migrate Data from Office 365 Domain to New Tenant
When we talk about migrate Office 365 domain to new tenant that means moving Office 365 domain with their data to the new tenant.
So, in this step, we will discuss how we can move Office 365 domain to new tenant with users mailboxes.
This is also not an easy task, it is also complicated itself. We can only do this task with SysTools Office 365 to Office 365 migration tool.
This software will transfer all your sensitive Office 365 domain data (emails, contacts, calendars, documents) to new tenant easily.

First, download the software –
1 – Run the software and select Office 365 as the source and destination. Check email, contact, calendar, and document checkbox to the migration process.
2 – The tool provides Date-based filter, migrate document permission, use group mapping, migrate document permission. Enable the required option and click on Next.
3 – Now, log in to Office 365 source tenant with Admin ID and Application ID. Then, validate permissions and click on Next.
4 – Log in to Office 365 destination with Admin ID and Application ID, click on the validate permissions. Click Next.
5 – Here are three options – Fetch User, Import users, Download Template.
6 – Now, we have to create a mapping between source and destination users.
Click on the Download template. In this CSV file, you have to mention source domain user ID and destination users ID.
Then, upload it to the software.
7 – After that, validate the permissions.
8 – Now, click on the Start Migration button.
It will take a few minutes to migrate Office 365 domain to new tenant.
Step 2 – Remove Domain from the Old Office 365 Tenant
Data is migrated in the previous step, now we are ready to detach domain from the old tenant. Follow the given steps to do this task.
1 – Go to the Admin center, then click on Setting >> Domain page.
2 – In the Domain page, select the domain which you want to remove.
3 – Now, click on remove.
4 – Follow the additional prompts, Click on Close.
Step 3 – Attach Domain to New Office 365 Tenant
Domain detached from the old tenant, now we can attach to the new Office 365 tenant. Follow the given steps to do this task.
1 – Go to Office 365 Admin Center and click Setup.
2 – Select view in under Get your custom domain set up.
3 – Then, choose Manage >> Add domain.
4 – Enter domain name then click Next.
5 – Now, sign in your domain registrar and select Next.
6 – Choose to Add the DNS records for me then select Next.
7 – Select the service which you want for your new domain.
8 – After that Next >> Authorize >> Next >> Finish.
Now, the domain is added to the new Office 365 tenant. The next task is to migrate the user’s data into the domain.
Step 4 – Transfer data from New Office 365 Tenant to Domain
It’s time to perform the final step. In these steps, we will transfer users data from Office 365 tenant to the domain.
To do this task we will use Office 365 to Office 365 migration tool again.
Before starting the migration, you have to create a user ID (where you will migrate data) in a newly added domain.
After that create a CSV file in which you have to add the source user ID (previously you have migrated data) and newly create domain users ID.
Then follow step 2 to transfer Office 365 domain to the new tenant and import this CSV file and start the migration.
After following all the above-given steps, you have successfully migrated Office 365 domain to a new tenant.
